LOS ANGELES, USA // As the VP of Marketing for Netflix, Shauna Spenley is responsible for leading brand and original content strategy. She has lead creative, strategy and operational teams within Netflix as well as creative partnerships with streaming partners like Apple, Playstation and Samsung among others.
When Shauna Spenley joined Netflix, it was an internet start-up with 3 million subscribers that broke DVD convention by mailing DVDs. Netflix now has over 80 million streaming subscribers globally and now she currently leads the team responsible for the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Since 2013, she has been focused on launching award-winning series and films while also growing subscribers. Her team will launch over 100 titles over the next year.
With over 10 years clocked at one of the most ground-breaking and innovative companies today, Shauna credits personal innovation and curiosity to getting her to where she is today. Asked to summarize her ability to succeed at a company that is notorious for taking big swings, she references the famous Lincoln quote, "The best way to predict your future is to create it."
Prior to Netflix, Shauna had brief stints working in Integrated Marketing at The WB Television Network, the Marketing groups CAA and working at CBS Outdoor in London. Shauna graduated with a communications degree from Boston University and resides in Manhattan Beach with her husband Mike and three children - Katherine (8), Ava (6), Jack (4). She's the proud recipient of many marketing accolades including a couple coveted Clio Awards, but her favorite - by far - the key to the city of Newport Beach for the Arrested Development Banana Stand.
