Fara Howard was appointed the global vice president of marketing for Vans in April 2014. In this role, Howard drives Vans’ global marketing strategy and provides marketing leadership to achieve company goals in branding, messaging and positioning. Howard returned to her Southern California roots to join Vans from Dell where she served in key roles for several business functions, including product management, e-commerce, and creative. During her tenure at Dell, Howard established an in-house creative agency and interactive design organizations, which she grew to a global team of more than 200 people. Prior to Dell, she worked at PepsiCo’s Gatorade and launched its X-Factor sub-line. In 2016 for Vans’ 50th anniversary, Howard led the global creative development and digital strategy of The Story of Vans brand campaign as a nod to Vans’ five decades of heritage. This campaign is the culmination of iconic moments across the brands pillars in action sports, art, music and street culture. The campaign has been adopted globally and included an expansion of Vans’ experiential platform, House of Vans. Howard graduated first in her major from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in Science Education and earned her master’s degree in marketing and corporate strategy from the University of Michigan. Now a resident of Manhattan Beach, California, Howard alongside her husband and three children love living life outdoors.
