Susan Hoffman
Global Executive Creative Director
Wieden+Kennedy

PORTLAND, USA // One of our few Portland natives, Susan Hoffman started her career as an art director at Pihas, Schmidt, Westerdahl before moving to TBWA\Chiat\Day Seattle. Three years later she came to Wieden+Kennedy as employee No. 8 and has spent the last 30 years defining the agency’s culture and setting the bar for creative excellence.

Since David Kennedy’s “retirement” in 1993, Susan has provided the visual yin to Dan Wieden’s storytelling yang. She’s worked as a creative director; opened both our Amsterdam and London offices, serving both as executive creative director; and ran Wieden+Kennedy 12, our experimental ad school.

Under her leadership as Executive Creative Director (ECD) of the flagship office, Portland has rapidly grown to an office of over 600 people and earned a number of distinguished agency of the year honors from several leading industry organizations and publications.

From early 2014 through the end of 2015, she worked alongside Dave Luhr and Colleen

DeCourcy in the global management ranks, partnering with Colleen as Co-Global ECD. In January of 2016, Susan returned to Portland Management to work with her former partners Mark Fitzloff, Joe Staples, and Tom Blessington, continuing to nurture the agency’s creative talent, and push forward to find new and different ways of working and thinking.
