CLEVELAND, USA // Brad Sims joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as senior vice president and chief revenue officer in May 2012 after four years at the NBA League Office in New York City where he served as vice president of team marketing & business operations.  During his time with the NBA, Brad worked closely with the Cavs and all other NBA, WNBA and NBA D-League teams to provide strategic direction and share league and industry best practices across all verticals of the business including season ticket sales, premium/suite sales, group sales, marketing, digital/social, finance/expenses, food & beverage, retail and game presentation.  Sims also served as point person from the league office to the New Orleans Hornets during the NBA’s ownership of the team (December 2010 through May 2012), helping to dramatically increase overall revenue and profitability and readying the team for sale.

Prior to working at the NBA, Sims spent nearly four years as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Opening Day Partners LLC, a company that owned and operated a group of minor league baseball teams.  Brad had the opportunity to be involved in the construction of three new stadiums and the successful launch of new franchises in Lancaster, PA, York, PA and Charles County, MD.

All told, Sims has 19 years of sports industry experience, including stints with Comcast-Spectacor in Philadelphia (the Philadelphia 76ers, Flyers & Phantoms), Maryland Baseball LLC (minor league affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles) and the Durham Bulls baseball club of “Bull Durham” movie fame.

In Sims’ role with the Cavs, he is responsible for managing and directing all efforts related to ticket sales, suite and premium sales, corporate partnerships, box office operations, sales and service operations, database marketing and analytics/business intelligence.  He also oversees digital and social media operations, marketing efforts and revenue for all Cavaliers Operating Company properties.  Additionally, Sims is also involved in helping drive revenues for the Cavs other sports and entertainment properties including the Lake Erie Monsters (American Hockey League), Cleveland Gladiators (Arena Football League) and Canton Charge (NBA Development League).

A 2015 Sports Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree, as well as a 2015 Leaders in Sports Global Under 40 Award Winner, Sims is a graduate of the University of California, San Diego with a degree in communications and minors in political science and US history.  Brad resides in downtown Cleveland with his wife Beth and daughter Sloane.
