NEW YORK, USA // Brian Monaco is the President, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. With this role, he not only leads the Synchronization team globally, but also runs the Strategic Marketing department, fostering new business relationships to help increase the value of our copyrights in the digital media landscape, and the Social Media team.
He joined Sony/ATV in July 2012 as EVP, Commercial Music Group following the acquisition of EMI Music Publishing, where he was Executive Vice President, Worldwide Head of Advertising, Film & TV for both EMI Music Publishing and EMI Records, which included Astralwerks, Blue Note, Capitol Records, Parlophone and Virgin Records. Prior to Sony/ATV and EMI, Brian founded a talent company called Worldwide Talent Group in 1995.
Brian has been featured on numerous music industry power lists, including Billboard’s Power 100, Branding Power Players, a list made up of esteemed executives at the forefront of the business of marketing with music, and Variety’s Power of New York list. He is also a voting member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame & the Clio Awards, an annual award program recognizing innovation and creative excellence in advertising, design and communications. Under his leadership, Sony/ATV has maintained the most amount of commercials for seven years running during advertising’s biggest night, The Super Bowl, including multiple iconic placements with Fortune 500 companies.
With Brian’s proven track record of maximizing sales and productivity, he has played a crucial role in driving new revenue for our organization. In addition to building strong teams, Brian has fostered key relationships with our artists, and is the go-to contact for Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, Queen, Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20), John Mellencamp and Jeff Lynne (ELO) to name a few.
