NEW YORK, USA // 21GRAMS Executive Creative Director, Chris Charles is no stranger to great work and a hard work ethic. His career in advertising has spanned so many brands in different markets, it seems he has lived over 120 years. Spooky.
He started his career creating Wrestlemania and Pay-Per-View campaigns at World Wrestling Entertainment, to leading art direction on many toy and game brands at Hasbro, to leading several teams to develop some of the most award-winning creative work in health. His experience spans from big names like Pfizer, Takeda, Johnson & Johnson to more rare disease focused biotechs like Sobi, Genentech, and Biogen.
He has led teams from all over the world to create platform ideas that help people remember the brand and its message over anything else that fills up their headspace (favorite Netflix show, picking up little Johnny at soccer, getting out of that dinner with that guy named Chad, etc.) A standard he sets to ensure that the audience is not just entertained but are engaged in a memorable conversation, a conversation with a brand that you just can’t forget.
Chris has won several awards ranging from Cannes Lions, Clios, LIAs, D&AD pencils to name a few, but the real reason he makes great work is to be able to confidently show his mother what he does for a living without embarrassment. We just heard word that she is still proud of him, so that’s a good sign. The jury is still out on what Dad thinks.
Chris has proved time and time again that creativity can be found anywhere, in any discipline, in any channel, as long as you know where to look, are willing to roll up your sleeves, and are passionate about what you do.
