LOS ANGELES, USA // As the Global Category Development Officer for the Entertainment Vertical at Spotify, Elana Sulzer is responsible for leading the entertainment category innovation and expertise with a goal of driving business growth globally focused on building entertainment brand partnerships. She collaborates with teams across Spotify while overseeing strategic client engagement and deliverable solutions.
Prior to making a career shift into a sales strategy role at Spotify in April of 2020, Elana spent over twenty years working in marketing for a number of the biggest players in entertainment. Most recently at WarnerMedia running their synergy efforts across the WarnerMedia brands including Warner Bros., HBO/ HBO Max and Turner Networks helping to find tens of millions of dollars of efficiencies and create processes for communication across all lines of business. In 2016 Elana opened the Los Angeles office for Media Assembly with dedicated strategy and planning services for the 20th Century Fox Theatrical, Fox Home Entertainment, Fox Searchlight and FX Networks businesses. As the Executive Vice President and Managing Director she hired, onboarded and managed a team of 80 including Audience Strategists, Media Planners, Research and Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Search and Programmatic Activation teams. Building a data management platform for the clients and delivering a number of award winning campaigns. Before moving to an agency role Elana held client positions at Overture Films and Relativity Media as the Senior Vice President of Advertising and Marketing, running all of the theatrical and home entertainment media campaigns, along with doing all creative and talent management on media promotions and cross divisional synergy. Elana started her entertainment career at Universal Pictures on the media team as an executive assistant eventually leaving after 10 years after being promoted numerous times and eventually becoming Vice President of Media.
Elana earned a BS in Marketing from the University of Arizona. She keeps busy with her 17 and 14 year old daughters, husband and puppy. They love to spend time vacationing at the beach, hiking and volunteering through the National Charity League. She is also a mentor through Women in Entertainment: partnered with The Hollywood Reporter and the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization.
