Despite a challenging schedule producing advertising, Juan still makes time for his other creative passions. A music fanatic, he is currently wrapping up production on his first album, “Mr. Takumoto,” which details his time in Japan. Besides producing music, Juan is also a DJ, known throughout the world as “DJ SD.” For 17 years, Juan has produced and remixed tracks for award-winning international artists and has worked with companies including MTV. He has performed on every continent except Antarctica, from Barcelona to Miami to Tokyo, Auckland to LA to Rio, Miami to Senegal to Santa Domingo. Notable performances in Paris, Cannes, London, Cabo, Chicago, Toronto, New York and Cape Town have established him as a premier DJ for premium events.
Juan is the founder of Bento Entertainment, LLC, specializing in film and video production. With Bento, Juan traveled to Poland to produce the film Birds of a Feather starring Snoop Dogg. His work with Bento has allowed Juan to direct, create sound design and musical orchestrations and produce many concerts and shows. In partnership with KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad, Juan produces, directs and films the annual pre-Grammy brunch in Los Angeles.
In addition to client-related work within the agency, Juan produces the annual Leo Burnett Anniversary party and the legendary Leo Burnett Breakfast. Produced at iconic venues around Chicago, these elaborate day-long events entertain the more than 2,000 employees of the agency and are infamous throughout the industry. All of this work led Leo Burnett in 2014 to name Juan the Executive Producer and Creative Director of HKX, the agency’s experiential marketing division.
Juan graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in Film, Photography and Video Production and started his career in film as a Videographer, Editor and Director of Special Events for ABC News. He then worked as an editor and ACSR Avid Engineer for Postworks in New York, where he managed clientele including ABC, NBC, USA Network, MTV and VH1.
