Grégoire and Thomas Couzinier, aka Les Kouz, are both French composers, producers and sound-designers, specialised in production and post-production for cinema and advertising. Together, they founded Kouz Production, the Superpitch label and the Insonic platform.
Thomas Couzinier is a French musician, producer and sound artist, born in 1975 in Reims.
Following his initial passion for rock and punk, he trained at the École d’Acoustique in le Mans and the Melbourne Institute of Art and Media, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Composition and Sound. Paradoxically, Thomas made a name for himself in the 2000s on the ‘electronica’ scene as part of the Battery Operated duo with whom he signed five albums, played in numerous festivals (Nuits Sonore, Sonar, FCMM, Elektra, OFFF…) and produced numerous sound installations.
His mastery in the field of creation and audio production encouraged him to found, with his brother Grégoire, the Kouz studio and company specializing in audiovisual postproduction (2001) and the Superpitch label, dedicated to music applied to images (2014).
This experience led him to sign the sound design of the first feature films of Thierry Poiraud (Atomic Circus, 2004) and Christian Volckman (Renaissance, 2006), the music and sound design for Mutants (David Morley, 2009) the theme track of Violent Days (by Lucille Chauffour, 2004) or the recent soundtrack Goal Of The Dead (by Benjamin Rocher and Thierry Poiraud, 2013).
Grégoire Couzinier is a French producer, sound designer and mixer, born in 1973 in Reims.
After discovering music through the piano, he was introduced to the world of sound in the early 1990s through electroacoustic music during an internship at GRAME in Lyon, where he met several composers including François Bayle and Bernard Parmegiani. Intuitive and self-taught, he learned production and sound design via his experience in the field of short films and television before co-founding Kouz Production.
Since then he has produced, mixed and taken part in numerous soundtracks for movies (Renaissance, Louise Michel, Johnny Mad Dog,), worked with Wong Kar Wai, Michel Gondry or Mathieu Kassovitz, mixed supervised sound for television, fictions, documentaries and advertising (Armani, Mercedes, Citroen, Nissan, Samsung, Canal plus, Dior, Chanel, Bulgari, Hermes…).
PARIS, FRANCE // In 2015 they started developing new partnerships thanks to Insonic. Based in Paris and Belgium, this new platform for post-production is aimed at feature films.
