HAMBURG, GERMANY // Sascha Hanke is the Executive Creative Director of the Hamburg-based communication agency KOLLE REBBE and of its design, product and packaging subsidiary KOREFE.

Hanke discovered his passion for design when he was a teenager by collecting masses of beautifully designed record covers from UK design legends Peter Saville and Mark Farrow.

A couple of years later he started his career as a copywriter with Springer & Jacoby in Hamburg. There he was responsible for clients such as McKinsey, GĂ–RTZ and Mercedes-Benz.

In 2002, Sascha Hanke was recruited by Jung von Matt. He eventually worked for the company for 10 years as a copywriter, Creative Director, and Executive Creative Director on an interdisciplinary basis for high profile brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, BOSCH, RWE electricity & gas, SIXT car rental and United Internet Media. His clients also included small but exclusive brands such as Dortmund concert hall. From an early stage, Hanke’s focus was on the incorporation of digital channels and establishing integrated thinking into daily operations. With his “Konzertmilch Dortmund” case, Hanke was the only German to win an Integrated and Titanium Lion at the international Cannes Lions Festival in 2011. Shortly afterward, Jung von Matt was crowned “Independent Agency of the year”.

Hanke then took charge of Kolle Rebbe´s creative development, leading the agency into the International Cannes Ranking. They were crowned one of the TOP10 most creative independent agencies in the world in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Kolle Rebbe also won best German agency at the Cannes Lions Festival, the Clios, Eurobest and New York Festivals all in 2014.

According to the Directory Big Won Rankings 2014 Hanke is among the top 20 most successful ECDs in the world. The PIAFYS currently rank Hanke at #15.

Hanke has a great passion for producing music, writes columns for the German newspaper DER SPIEGEL, and has been intensively involved in fostering Germany’s up-and-coming junior creative for many years. He regularly lectures at the Texterschmiede, Miami Ad School, and ADC Deutschland.
