NEW YORK, USA // Creative, traveler, culturist and friendly provocateur. Shannon Washington is a busy woman.
Currently, Shannon serves as SVP, Executive Creative Director for R/GA New York where she leads integrated creative for R/GA’s flagship office, with a key focusing on reshaping the office’s creative vision and culture for 2021 and beyond. In addition, Shannon actively leads award-winning creative for Google, Uber, Sephora, ESPN, Happy Money, and The Ad Council. Additionally, Shannon also lends her expertise to a number of independent brands like The McBride Sisters.
Shannon joined R/GA after a quick jaunt in Los Angeles with Media Arts Lab where she helped launch Apple TV+ and build a foundation for original content marketing in the Apple ecosystem, starting with The Oprah Conversation with Oprah Winfrey, and at Deutsch Los Angeles for H&R Block. Previous to Deutsch, Shannon was a Creative Director at Droga5 where she drove the successful, culture-driven “I Am What I Make Up” relaunch of CoverGirl and sharpened her investing smarts with the launch of You Invest with Chase.
In her spare time, Shannon works to fuse her many passions into action and service. Since 2009 she has published, designed, and contributed to PARLOUR, a social travel-lifestyle destination for black women. In 2019, she created TONI, a social support space for Black women in the marketing and advertising. A huge advocate of mentorship, she also has served as a mentor with New Inc, a cultural entrepreneur incubator program, and has also served within the same capacity for the MADE In New York Media Center.
When she can, Shannon can be found actively adding to the discourse around the culture of leadership and inclusivity in advertising through paneling and public conversations, with appearances with the 3% Conference, The One Club Creative Leaders Retreat, Advertising Week NY, Contagious, WIE and more. When she’s not in front of a monitor, Shannon is working on adding another stamp to her passport.
Shannon is a proud and loud graduate of Howard University and lives in New Jersey with her family.
