AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND // Simon Vicars is Australasia’s most globally awarded Creative. Of the 53 Cannes Lions he’s won as a Copywriter, they include 19 golds, two grand prix and a coveted titanium trophy.
Prior to leading Colenso BBDO he was Creative Director at adam & eve DDB. While there he helped the UK hotshop win Cannes Agency of the Year in 2018, and created the much celebrated ‘Don’t spread the hate’ campaign for Marmite, followed by ‘Marmite Mind Control’. He led work on Virgin Media, Mars and adidas – resulting in a ground-breaking collaboration between the sports apparel giant and EA Sport.
Vicars spent the first 10 years of his career in New Zealand creating iconic Kiwi ad campaigns like Instant Kiwi’s ‘Get a perm’, Pedigree’s Child Replacement Programme and the Clio Grand Prix winning Brewtroleum for beer brand DB Export.
Since taking the reins at Colenso in 2021, he’s led the agency to two Cannes Grand Prix, and back-to-back Pacific Agency of the Year titles in 2023 and 2024.
