LOS ANGELES, USA// 180LA Senior Copywriter Will Sands has been recognized by Cannes, D&AD, the Clio Awards, The One Show, and the ANDYs for his work on “The Last Shot” from the Jordan Brand. He’s also made headlines for his work on Volkswagen, 7-Eleven, and Bud Light.
Prior to working advertising, Will attended the University of North Carolina and moved to Chicago just as the great recession hit. The industry was cutting jobs every day, so he decided to pack a couple suitcases and travel with hope that he’d find work along the way. Luckily, he found a job in Sydney, and would later move on to Buenos Aires.
Rather than go portfolio school, Will was thrown straight into the fire as intern at CP+B Boulder. He credits CP+B for teaching him how to come up with big, newsworthy ideas.
After CP+B, he went to AKQA SF in 2013 where he had the opportunity to build his background in digital, and use technology to solve problems for big, exciting brands.
Will then went to Deutsch LA where he had the chance to focus on writing TV, and to become a true integrated creative. Currently, Will spends his time watching UNC basketball, travelling as much as possible, and working as a Senior Copywriter at 180LA.
