NEW YORK, USA // After three seasons as the Vice President of Marketing with the WNBA’s New York Liberty, Shana Renee Stephenson was promoted to Chief Brand Officer. In this role, Stephenson oversees strategies and day to day management of marketing, partnership initiatives, content and innovation for the Liberty brand. Additionally, she is responsible for maintaining strong relationships with core fans and building relationships with new fan bases.
A former ESPN marketing professional with more than 15 years of sports industry experience, Shana has a passion for storytelling – adding a unique perspective, relatable relevance and necessary voice to a traditionally male-driven sports community has landed her opportunities with AspireTV, Black Enterprise, Bleacher Report, espnW, Essence, Madison Square Garden, Melissa Harris Perry Show, MSNBC, New York University, and Refinery29, to name a few.
Her keen knowledge of sports inspired her All Sports Everything, a New York centric sports blog with a range of lifestyle, news and other sports-relevant content; UnManning the Game, a platform designed to highlight women in sports; and THE MAJORS, a movement celebrating young-ish influencers of color, sports business’ unsung architects of dope.
In October 2021, Shana was named to the Sports Innovation Lab Women’s Sports Leadership Board, the first of its kind, specifically dedicated to accelerating the growth and commercialization of women’s sports.
A New York native, Shana currently resides in Harlem. She received her BA in Psychology from Spelman College, and her MS in Sports Business from New York University.
