LOS ANGELES, USA // Kristin McCasey’s editorial career spans TV, music videos, feature films, shorts, commercials, and trailers. Her work includes the acclaimed HBO Documentary Series SONIC HIGHWAYS, directed by Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl. Critics called it “a license to fly for every fledgling writer, musician, painter, actor, dancer—for every dreamer, everywhere.” Kristin edited the indie feature favorite WALTER, directed by Anna Mastro and starring William H Macy, Virginia Madsen and Andrew J West, which opened in theaters in March 2015. In 2013 Kristin edited, directed, and helped adapt a screen version of the Upright Citizens Brigade’s original musical BULIMIA: THE MUSICAL. The comedy won “Best Comedy Short” at the Arizona International Film Festival, and critics called it “a hilarious, brilliant, dark musical comedy in the style of Beetle Juice.” In 2012 she edited the comedy short BENCH SEAT, written by Neil LaBute (NURSE BETTY, IN THE COMPANY OF MEN), which was a Grand Prix Nominee at the Warsaw International Film Festival 2012. That same year she co-directed and edited a music video for Jarvis Cocker’s BLACK MAGIC, which won Best Unofficial Video at the Los Angeles Music Video Festival.
Kristin has been a top-billing editor at Therapy Studios since 2009. In addition to honors from the Association of Independent Creative Editors and Clio, she was also nominated for a Hollywood Post Alliance Award for commercial editing. Past clients include Google, Amazon, Miller Light, Fiat, Honda, Kia, Gamefly, Ugg, Wells Fargo, Playstation, Storck, Funny or Die , Stand Up To Cancer and ESPN-W. As a music video editor she has worked on projects featuring The Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, Mariachi El Bronx, Good Charlotte, and Plain White T’s. She also made her commercial directorial debut with a spot for Wells Fargo entitled NUMBERS.
Kristin grew up in Michigan, performing in community and professional theatre. She studied film at the University of Michigan and directing at the British American Film Academy in London. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
