JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA //  Kabelo featured in the Top 40 South Africans under 40 Destiny Man magazine special edition issue in 2015. He is a self-taught illustrator that traded his acrylic paints and paint brushes for the digital canvas, and has worked in the digital industry for over 15 years.

Kabelo is Executive Creative Director and board member at TBWA\Digital Arts Network. He began his career in 2000 at FCB Electric Ocean, and was later appointed to Group Head Digital Interactive in February 2005 and Creative Director Digital Interactive in August 2007, where he worked on global brands and building local success in the digital world for brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Motorola, Vodacom, Emirates, EA Games, Kraft Foods, HP, Samsung, Compaq and Caltex.

After winning some awards, Kabelo quickly moved up the ranks through various agencies, notably Mesh and Hello Computer. Prior to being made Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Digital Arts Network in Africa, he was ECD at TBWA\Tequila gaining more experience with working on global brands including Standard Bank, McDonald’s and Nissan.

Kabelo's role in the development of creative digital solutions was recognised in 2003 when the Loeries, South Africa’s premier awards show that recognises creative excellence in the marketing communications industry, made the emerging discipline a new awards category and he was named one of the judges – an honour repeated in 2004, and from 2007 to 2014.

In 2015 his jury duty was in 2 different panels for the Loerie awards, namely Non-English Radio and Communication Design, exposing him to other specialist marketing communications disciplines’ creative excellence. Kabelo was also a 2015 Apex awards judge tasked with appraising both creativity and effectiveness, measuring actual marketing campaign results.

In 2013, driving creative excellence on the continent, Kabelo was appointed to the judging panel of the inaugural advertising and communications awards launched by Botswana's Association of Communication Agencies (ACA), as well as being invited to be a guest speaker at the Ideas Expo event in Gaborone.

The same year Kabelo also participated in the jury panel for the IAB South Africa Bookmarks awards, a show that celebrates digital marketing excellence - an honour repeated in 2016.
