BOSTON, USA // Sarah Mahoney is Senior Vice President of the Digital Healthcare practice in Weber Shandwick’s Boston office. Sarah is responsible for developing and implementing digital and social engagement campaigns and online communities for pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, and health institutes. Sarah has extensive experience executing health campaigns using emerging technologies.

Sarah launched Weber Shandwick’s and Bristol-Myers Squibb’s first branded Rx social media program. This bold foray into social media positioned this pharmaceutical product as the only treatment with a branded Facebook page specifically created to reach Rheumatoid Arthritis patients and their loved ones. Sarah is the social media lead for GSK’s vaccine portfolio and developed the social/digital launch plans and content for GSK’s blockbuster Shingles vaccine.

In her time at Weber Shandwick, Sarah has launched several award-winning unbranded disease awareness digital and social communities for several health topics including multiple sclerosis and chronic eye conditions. Additionally, Sarah managed all aspects of Novartis Pharmaceuticals’ social and digital presence including editorial operations, community management, measurement, and analytics, paid advertising, project management and senior digital counsel.

Previously, Sarah ran Boston Children’s Hospital’s online community designed to inspire and support clinical innovation. She has also worked as a social media strategist for Bernard Hodes Group advertising agency and as a new media associate for AIDS.gov at John Snow Inc., a public health consulting firm.

Sarah has a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada Reno in community health and preventive medicine.
