BEAVERTON, USA // Shahbaz recently joined Nike to lead the Global Social Media Activation team, shaping the vision and strategy of Nike’s Flagship [@Nike] social channels and steering the multi-platform execution of Nike’s brand voice on a daily basis.
Before his time at Nike, Shahbaz served as VP of Social for The SpringHill Company and UNINTERRUPTED. There, Shahbaz and his team led social planning, strategy, on-the-ground captures, and creative execution for all studio, original, retail, and audio programming. By the end of his tenure, the SpringHill social team grew from a staff of eight FTE to 20, while the team doubled engagement rate across IG, TikTok, and Twitter, and nearly tripled TikTok followership. Prior to that, Shahbaz spent 8+ years in the NBA and WNBA between the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves/Lynx, leading teams that spearheaded paid and organic social, digital partnerships, digital retail, graphic design, web content, and photography efforts. During his NBA/WNBA tenure, the Kings and Timberwolves captured three NBA Social Innovator Awards (voted on by NBA peers), a Hashtag Sports award, and a Clio award.
Originally a Minneapolis, Minnesota native, Shahbaz is an avid Timberwolves, Lynx, and Vikings fan who you will likely find at a basketball court after office hours. His interests outside of hoops and work: spending time with his wife and two cats, trying new restaurants, mentoring aspiring sports professionals, working on his "Muslims in Sports & Media" non-profit, playing spikeball and/or board games with friends, photography, travel, or a good book.
