SAN FRANCISCO, USA // Taj Alavi is Vice-President, Global Head of Marketing at Spotify, the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service. Spotify’s mission is to unlock the potential of human creativity - by giving a million creative artists the opportunity to live off their art and billions of fans the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by it. As Global Head of Marketing, Taj is responsible for how the brand delivers on this mission, connecting with new and existing listeners in 184 markets around the world with culture-defining marketing activations, including Spotify’s annual Wrapped campaign. Taj was named one of Forbes’ Top 50 CMOs in 2023 and was named in Ad Age’s Leading Women in 2022, the award recognises women who create opportunity and drive transformation within the industry.
Prior to Spotify, Taj was responsible for building and leading global marketing programs for brands like Instagram, Uber and Intuit. Taj joined Spotify from Chime, the largest financial technology company in the US, where she was the Vice President of Marketing. Previously, Taj worked as Senior Director of Global Marketing for Uber, leading brand, design, social and content. Prior to Uber, she served as Instagram’s Head of Global Brand Marketing where she established and led the company’s global brand marketing org, including the creation of marketing analytics, media, insights, creative and country marketing teams and was recognized by AdWeek as a Brand Genius. She also serves as an advisor to executive members of Outdoor Voices, Lunya and Plenty and Board of Advisors at Boston University.
Taj holds a master’s degree from Boston University and resides in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, two young kids and rescue dog.
