HAMBURG, GERMANY // Armin Jochum, co-founder, CEO & CCO of the agency group thjnk, is one of the most highly acclaimed creative minds in Europe. Under his leadership, Jung von Matt won 50 Cannes Lions within the space of three years and was voted Independent Agency of the Year in 2010. The following year, W&V, German trade journal for the communications and media industry, named him Top Manager of the Year. In 2012, Armin Jochum founded the agency thjnk together with Karen Heumann and Michael Trautmann. As early as 2014, the founding partners were named “Agency Heads of the Year.” That same year, thjnk was voted “Agency of the Year” at the Euro Effies, and the Lead Academy awarded Armin Jochum the title of “Creative Leader of the Year” in 2016. Today, his agency thjnk continues to make its mark with an exceptional creative signature, sparking one highlight after another at international creative award shows and the Effies. Armin Jochum is a member of ADC Germany, where he has chaired the jury several times. He has served on the jury at D&AD and regularly at the LIAs, was a member of the New York Festivals executive jury several times, jury chairman at the Clios, jury president and speaker at Dubai Lynx, Eurobest speaker, jury president in Cannes and first German member of the Titanium jury. Armin has shaped national and international communications for brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen, Deutsche Bahn, IKEA and McDonald’s. He has created advertising for MTV, the BILD newspaper and Der Spiegel magazine, Ligne Roset, Commerzbank, General Electric, Beiersdorf, Lufthansa and IWC wristwatches. Alongside his other work, he has written columns for German business newspaper Handelsblatt as well as GQ, teaches at the University of Applied Sciences in Constance, Germany, and is convinced of the spiritual power of mowing the lawn, as only befits a native son of Swabia. He lives with his wife and three children in Hamburg.
