LOS ANGELES, USA // Karen Barragan is the Chief Marketing Officer for Blumhouse. She oversees all marketing, communication and branding efforts for the successful production company.
Barragan joined Blumhouse in January of 2019 from Netflix, where she was the first publicity executive on the communications team and helped build the current global organization. In 2013, the inaugural year of original programming, Netflix garnered 14 Emmy nominations and made history with three Emmy award wins for House of Cards. During her 7+ year tenure at the streaming company, Karen worked across television, documentaries and feature film programming.
Before Netflix, Barragan oversaw global publicity for Sony Picture Television. During her tenure there, she worked across campaigns that included AMC’s Breaking Bad to The Dr. Oz Show, among others. She is a member of the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS), and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS).
