NEW YORK, USA // David Bell is currently EVP, Head of Marketing for Epic Records (a division of Sony Music). In this role he oversees four departments including Product Management, Digital Marketing, Creative Services and Tour Marketing. His primary remit is to develop creative and innovative marketing campaigns to grow audience, increase awareness and drive consumption for Epic Records artists and their music. Artists on Epic Records include Travis Scott, Future, 21 Savage, Meghan Trianor, Andre 3000, Giveon and many more. David and his team have recently been awarded CLIO Music awards for campaigns with Ozzy Osbourne and Zara Larsson.
Bell returned to Epic Records in 2017 after 3 years as SVP Marketing & Digital at Def Jam Records. He began his career in music at Elektra Records, as an assistant in the Marketing Department. In 2000, he moved to UMG’s Global-e division in the early days of label digital business. One year later he was appointed Product Manager at V2 Records, where he co-founded V2’s dance music focused MTA Records. He joined JIVE Records in 2006, as Director, Digital and quickly rose to Vice President, Head of Digital Marketing & Strategy before moving internally at Sony to Epic Records in the same role from 2011-2014.
In addition to his experience at record labels, Bell has worked in the agency world conceiving and executing non-traditional marketing for major brands. Standout campaigns include buzz marketing strategy to bring Gillette’s TAG Body Spray to market, Toyota’s SXSW title sponsorship to introduce the Yaris and implementing the first ever blog sponsorship on behalf of Nike’s Art of Speed campaign.
David is a lifelong DJ having held weekly residencies in NYC. He has also freelanced as a comedy writer and producer including 60+ episodes of AV Squad; National Lampoon’s college focused music show. Bell graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in English Literature and earned his MBA from Fordham University with dual concentrations in Marketing & Finance.
