NEW YORK, USA // Ricardo is a passionate Design Leader with 20+ years of experience in Branding, Design, and Innovation. He crafts Strategies, Expressions, and Experiences for local and global brands, leading multidisciplinary teams to translate business challenges into brand evolution. He graduated from one of Brazil’s top design schools, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), whose Design program is part of the country’s first School of Fine Arts (EBA). Since 1994, Ricardo has explored the intersection of technical design skills and conceptual art—shaping him into a well-rounded, original creative professional. For 25 years, he has worked at leading Brazilian design consultancies, helping prominent brands across diverse industries. His expertise connects a brand’s internal essence with external consumer demands. For 18 years, as Partner and Chief Creative Officer at Tátil Design™ — a globally recognized Brazilian agency—he led projects for Coca-Cola, Danone, ABI, Burger King, Natura, Carrefour, and others. Ricardo has received 100+ national and international awards, including D&AD, The One Show, and Cannes Lions—the Oscars of the creative world. Highlights include leading the design of the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic brands—the first tridimensional and multisensory identities in the Games’ history—and the Rio Carnival Brand®, which earned two Gold Cannes Lions.
In 2023, he served as a judge for the D&AD Awards in London. In 2022, he ranked Top 3 in the D&AD Typography Ranking and was named Highlight of the Year at the BDA Award—Brazil’s most prestigious design recognition. For 15 years, he has been a keynote speaker at global conferences on Design, Branding, and Innovation. Now, as Executive Creative Director at JKR™ NYC, Ricardo continues to uncover originality in brands and people—not as a tactic to stand out, but as a deeper exercise in embracing what truly makes them unique.
