2010 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient: Rich Silverstein

Rich grew up in Yorktown Heights, New York. After graduating from Parsons, he moved to San Francisco against his father’s wishes.

He worked as an art director in one-year increments for Rolling Stone magazine; Bozell & Jacobs; McCann Erickson; Foote, Cone & Belding; and Ogilvy & Mather, where he met Jeff and settled down. They founded GS&P in 1983 and have won virtually every advertising award imaginable.

In 2002 he was inducted into the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame and, two years later, into the One Club Creative Hall of Fame. With Jeff he was named Executive of the Decade by Adweek.

Rich sets a design standard that equips the agency to compete against the country’s leading design studios. His passion is evident whether he’s crafting client work or creating his own.

He serves on the board of Specialized Bicycles, and though he again resides in the City after a number of years in Marin, he rides across the Golden Gate Bridge and back every morning. He considers himself a very lucky guy.
