Born in Maracay, Venezuela, Deyna has represented her country at every level — from the U-15 to the senior national team — achieving milestones that have placed Venezuelan women’s football on the world stage. She is the all-time top scorer for Venezuela’s women’s national team and the highest goal scorer in the history of the Copa América — across both men’s and women’s categories. Her career includes appearances in two FIFA U-17 World Cups, multiple Copa América tournaments, and medals in the Central American and Caribbean Games. At just 17, Deyna became a FIFA Puskás Award finalist and was nominated among the top three players in the world for The Best FIFA Women’s Player. After winning a national championship title at Florida State University, she went on to play professionally for Atlético de Madrid, Manchester City, Bay FC, and currently the Portland Thorns FC.
Off the pitch, Deyna is the founder of Queen Deyna Legacy, an initiative that empowers young women through sport, education, and leadership. Through her foundation, she has provided over 50 full scholarships, distributed sports equipment across Latin America, and created pathways for girls to access college athletics and personal development opportunities. Recognized as the first Venezuelan Nike Global Athlete and Red Bull Athlete, as well as one of the youngest World Cup commentators for Telemundo, Deyna uses her platform to champion gender equality and amplify Latin American voices in sport. In 2025, she joined the FIFPRO Global Player Council, advocating for fairer conditions and player rights worldwide. Her journey — from a girl kicking a ball in Maracay to an international icon — embodies how talent and purpose can transform not just a career, but entire communities.
