Grassroots football is loved but lacks the resources and time professional clubs have.
Veo is a sport-tech camera for amateur football teams, helping players improve their game with tools normally only afforded to professionals with the use of AI.
No longer alone in the AI-camera space, Veo needed to create brand salience and win loyal fans by showing they truly believe in democratising the best of the beautiful game by tackling the elitism of the professional sport.
Ronaldo. Messi. Rooney. Neymar. World famous football talent. Who over the years have been celebrated by FIFA's Puskas Award for scoring the world's "most beautiful" goal of the year.
But incredible goals aren’t limited to the world’s biggest stadiums and while scouts can’t be on every pitch, Veo’s sports-tech cameras can.
Veo is determined to democratise football. The People’s Puskas 2024 bring you ‘the best goal you never saw’; a global competition which champions thousands of amateur players around the world who score goals worthy of the world’s spotlight.
People could nominate, vote and champion their favourite goals scored by anyone, anywhere. For and by football fans – the community championed players from everywhere regardless of age, race or gender.
The People’s Puskas 2024 launched at the end of December and ran until a winner was announced in March 2025. The whole competition was earned media first and played out across social media content, regional fly-posters, UGC video-driven voting site, and PR.
Veo saw stunning growth from the 2024 People’s Puskas with over 300,000 direct votes from fans, a 900% YOY increase and a campaign total 40million+ impressions (76% increase from last year) thanks to social noise and 35+ pieces of coverage on the likes of ESPN (broadcast, online and podcast), France’s leading football website, L'Equipe, the iconic SportsBible, Germany’s Kicker and social hype site Tekkers.
During the campaign, Veo social channels grew to over 450,000 followers.
The People’s Puskas saw 2183 goals entered, a 212% increase compared to last year. Entries were worldwide from 34 countries UK to the US and Canada, to Kenya via Europe -Spain, Germany and the eventual winner, Gus Le Ner, in France.
All of this led to business results with 215% increase in product lead generation from the same campaign period last year.
