One-third of young girls drop out of sports by the time they reach secondary school. There are several reasons for this. At the heart of it is a lack of visible role models - women in sport who continue to push through the same challenges and doubts girls face every day. Sports Illustrated’s aim was to encourage young girls to keep playing sports. With the Wall of Will, it was able to reach girls where they often think of quitting sports – their school gyms and locker rooms. Articles about sportswomen overcoming obstacles were transformed into bold, larger-than-life wallpapers for schools. Seven top athletes brought the project to life - including Giulia Gwinn, captain of the German national football team; WNBA stars Satou and Nyara Sabally; professional climber Hannah Meul; Olympic skateboarder Lilly Stoephasius; Olympic sprinter Gina Lückenkemper; and functional fitness athlete Katharina Isele.
