There are 1.3 million fewer high school sports opportunities for girls than boys, according to the Women’s Sports Foundation. That’s why the NFL is working to expand access—starting with advocating for girls flag football as a varsity sport.
Right now, only 14 states offer it. That leaves 36 to go.
So we used the biggest stage—the Super Bowl—to push for change. In our first-ever Super Bowl spot aimed at kids, parents, and school leaders, we featured Ki’Lolo Westerlund, a standout high school flag player and the first to receive an NCAA D1 offer, to inspire young girls and encourage decision-makers in the remaining states to help level the playing field.
