With the white-hot fan excitement around seeing Stitch come to life in live action for the first time, we wanted to double down on this fervor and physically bring him into our world for fans to see and interact with IRL. Thus, we built an animatronic, to-scale version of Stitch to surprise & delight (and shock) fans in person and online. From the hues of the color on his fur to the shape of his teeth, we meticulously ensured the smallest of details matched the design of the Stitch from the movie. This Stitch would come to be known as Robo Stitch! To ensure his cute and chaotic personality came through in every execution, we engineered his functionalities not only to support expressive speech and facial movements, but also to enable him to navigate spaces and interact with the world around him (à la doing donuts in a pink Range Rover). And in his little pink car, we had him go on a promotional road trip across America. He went to movie theaters to (literally) surprise fans, had a beach day with popular creators, did a press tour across New York City, made appearances with the cast, and even visited Graceland. Robo Stitch was not only a hit with fans in person, but an even bigger hit online as fan UGC and press coverage spread virally across social.
