NEW YORK, USA // Komal recently got promoted to the VP Graphics, Innovation & design has led the charge in implementing various innovations within the CBS Sports broadcast. From the Integration of AI within our day-to-day creative storytelling to the expansion of the use of Mixed reality – she has been pivotal contributing to a more innovative broadcast. Super bowl 58 was the first ever Superbowl to use Unreal engine to build out the wraparounds. The Superbowl in Vegas naturally lent itself to giving viewers a sense of place. Komal Spearheaded the rebuilding of Las Vegas boulevard in unreal engine. The virtual boulevard was then used accorss the animation package along with a backdrop in XR for our specialty player soon and was re purposed in the use of Augmented reality within the broadcast. This ensured creative control over the whole broadcast. Super bowl 58 leaned into the extravagance of Vegas and that came across on screen.
She is currently working on a high tech tee box for PGA championship that will allow viewers to be immersed in the stories within our golf broadcast. With the Use of AI she plans to build a tee box that is immersed with stories and stats about various players passing thru the teebox.
Additionally she has been a key force embracing AI within our creative stories told every week for NFL and College football. The use of Adobe firefly as well as other AI tools like Sora and runway to enhance our stories has elevated the graphic design.
She has overseen the integration of AR since it was done for the first time at Super bowl 57. Working in the sports industry for over 15 years, including being a part of CBS Sports through three rebrands, Komal was the also first at CBS sports to design stereoscopic graphics back in been at the forefront of innovation and consistency, ensuring that CBS Sports has evolved and stayed in tune with progressing trends in the industry. Paramount to CBS Sports’ biggest properties, Komal has led the art direction for five Super Bowls, and has designed graphics for all of CBS Sports properties, including the anNFL, college football, college basketball, golf, soccer and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Her work has been recognized across the sports industry, with Emmy wins for Romovision (2022) and Live Graphic Design Nickelodeon Playoff game (2021), among others.
