ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA // Danny (and his twin brother Michael) Philippou are an Australian writer-director duo, known for their online presence in comic horror and action.
Their YouTube videos have been watched over 1.5 billion times with over 6.7 million subscribers. They gained notoriety from their homemade slasher videos, stunts, and comedy sketches. In 2015, RackaRacka’s channel was awarded the Streamy’s Best International YouTube Channel, landed on Variety’s 2016 Fame Changers, and ranked 5th on Financial Review’s Cultural Power List. In their home country, RackaRacka won numerous awards at Online Video Awards and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award for Best Web Show.
In 2023, their debut feature film Talk to Me had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival followed by its European premiere at Berlinale, then SXSW, and was immediately snapped up by powerhouse indie A24, and the brothers were praised by the likes of Jordan Peele, Steven Spielberg, Ari Aster and Stephen King. The film went on to earn a staggering US$93.3 million worldwide.
Talk to Me is A24’s second highest grossing horror film in the studios history. The movie has been nominated for 20 Critics Choice Awards and 11 AACTAs.
In 2025, Danny & Michael’s second film Bring Her Back was released in the U.S. by A24 starring Oscar nominated actress Sally Hawkins and released worldwide by Sony. The film went on to garner 89% positive reviews including a B+ Cinemascore and is already being talked about as the best horror film of that year. They most recently finished the documentary Death Match about the hardcore underground world of Death Match wrestling to be released by A24 in 2026/27 and are currently working on their next original film and the sequel to Talk to Me.
