SAO PAULO, BRAZIL // Luiz Sanches has been at AlmapBBDO, one of the most successful and awarded agencies in the world, for 21 years, first as an Art Director and since 2013 as Chief Creative Officer and partner.

He believes in the importance of beautifully crafted simple and innovative ideas in creating memorable campaigns for local and global brands such as Volkswagen, HP, Visa, Pedigree, Havaianas, Pepsi, Getty Images, O Boticário, and Bauducco, among others.

In 2009, he was the world’s most awarded Creative Director, according to the Gunn Report.

In both 2010 and 2011, he was the most awarded Creative Director at the Cannes Lions Festival, having taken a leading role in helping AlmapBBDO take home the title of Agency of the Year for those two consecutive years.

In 2015, under his leadership, Almap was ranked second by the Gunn Report and was then named Agency of the Year at the Cannes Lions Festival in 2016 – the result of award-winning campaigns for eight different clients, including HP, Volkswagen, Getty Images, Havaianas, Pedigree, and Visa.

Over the course of his career, he has amassed an impressive 145 Cannes Lions including a Grand Prix in Press, both as an Art Director and as a Creative Director.

He has also been recognized at festivals such as the D&AD, Clio Awards, The One Show, NY Art Directors Club, El Sol, and the FIAP and New York Festivals.

He was recently named one of Latin America’s creatives of the decade by Argentinean publication LatinSpots.

He also has served on a number of juries for competitions such as the Clio Awards, The One Show, LIA Awards, ADC Award, Andy Awards, The NY Festivals, the PIAF Awards, FIAP, and Cannes (where he served three times), as well as numerous Brazilian festivals, and was Jury President at D&AD, El Sol, and El Ojo de Iberoamerica, among others.
