LOS ANGELES, USA // Fern’s career started with a can of spray paint, not a business card. Born and raised in LA, he cut his teeth in the city’s graffiti scene as a teenager, chasing color and motion on walls that were never meant to last. Looking for a canvas that would stick around, he moved into illustration and animation and never really stopped being an artist, even as “Creative Director” became the title on his resume.

That eye for color and character followed him straight into games marketing. Over 12 years, Fern has shaped creative for an elite tier of industry giants including Xbox, Activision, Blizzard, and Riot Games — leading Disney Social through the launch of Disney+ along the way, with standout work spanning Call of Duty, Pokémon GO, Overwatch, and Valorant. Whether leading a nimble crew of 5 or a full-scale team of 15, his career has been defined by building unwavering creative trust with partners and studios alike.

Today, Fern is Group Creative Director at Mutiny, where he leads Mutiny Studio, the agency’s in-house central design studio. A recipient of Clio, Webby, and Ad Age awards, he brings that expertise to the table this year as a Clio Awards juror. And when he’s not shaping campaigns for the biggest names in gaming, that same kid with the spray can is still at it, now painting, sculpting, and building worlds of his own, one colorful, narrative driven piece at a time.
