BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA // With over 15 years of experience in communication, Gastón “Tonga” Cánaves has worked at agencies such as Ogilvy, Geometry (VMLY&R Commerce), and Wunderman Thompson, serving clients like Volkswagen, Cinemark-Hoyts, Shell, OSDE, Coca-Cola, Volvo, Unilever, KFC, and Movistar, among others, throughout his career.
As a creative, many of his works have been awarded both locally and internationally, including 1 Grand Prix at Cannes Lions in the Innovation category, 1 Grand Prix in Pharma, and multiple awards at Clio, One Show, D&AD, LIA, The Andys, Epica, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, and Diente, among many other festivals. He achieved the #31 spot in The Drum’s World Creative Rankings 2023.
In 2021, he joined Dentsu Creative Argentina, and since 2022, he has been Co-Executive Creative Director of the agency alongside Agustín Alba. In 2023, he secured the first Cannes Lions metals for the office, including the Grand Prix in Pharma and three additional awards with Scrolling Therapy. Scrolling Therapy became the most awarded idea in the network’s history, with over 110 metals across various festivals.
In 2024, Gastón was selected to serve as an on-site jury member for the Innovation category at Cannes Lions 2024 and jury president for Innovation at El Ojo de Iberoamérica that same year.
