AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS // Gijs is an ECD with a track record of creating work that goes beyond advertising, delivering entertainment and real value to people’s lives. In 2024, he won Grand prix at Cannes Lions, Clio Music and Euro Effies for A Piece of Me, a groundbreaking campaign about online shaming for leading Dutch telco KPN. Gijs began his career in 2008, and within two years, he won a Gold Cannes Lion for Messages from Mars, an activation that hacked the classic Mars bar. Long before name-changing campaigns became popular, we had Mars selling completely black bars without its iconic logo. Ever since he has worked at agencies like DDB, Ogilvy and Dentsu, creating work for leading brands like Heineken, Volvo, Volkswagen, Philips and KPN.
Since joining Dentsu Creative in 2021, the agency has been a finalist for ‘Agency of the Year’ in the Netherlands three times, securing the top spot in 2023. In addition to these highlights, Gijs has earned over 300 national and international awards and shortlists including Cannes Lions, D&AD, Clio, One Show and Webby.
