CAMBRIDGE, USA // Kate Cronin is the Chief Brand Officer at Moderna, where she leads the efforts to share Moderna’s story and the impact of mRNA science. She oversees communications that reach different audiences, such as patients, patient advocates, consumers, healthcare providers, investors, and policy partners. Kate aims to connect Moderna directly with stakeholders, making the vision and the science more understandable to everyone. She is also a board member of the Moderna Charitable Foundation, where she manages global public health initiatives and giving strategies.

Kate has dedicated her career to communicating with audiences to raise awareness and understanding to improve overall healthcare outcomes. She has worked on disease awareness campaigns, communicated about new data and new therapies that have made a difference for patients.

Before joining Moderna, Ms. Cronin was the Global CEO of Ogilvy Health, part of WPP plc., where she was responsible for the full range of Ogilvy Health’s core capabilities including public relations and influence, brand strategy, advertising, medical education, market access, and patient and consumer engagement across a wide portfolio including pharmaceuticals, consumer health, insurance, hospitals, health technology and medical devices.

Ms. Cronin held various leadership roles within Ogilvy before becoming CEO, including Global Managing Director, Managing Director of Ogilvy Public Relations’ New York office, and Co-President of Ogilvy Health in the United States. Prior to her 17-year tenure at Ogilvy, Ms. Cronin was a Partner at Porter Novelli.

Kate has been recognized as a leading woman in advertising and communications by Ad Age and Fierce Pharma, and as a top Healthcare Influencer by Medical Marketing & Media (MM&M) and PRWeek. She was also inducted into the 2020 MM&M Hall of Femme. Kate often speaks and judges awards at marketing and health conferences including MM&M, ANA, Cannes and IAA.

Before starting her career in communications, Ms. Cronin did research in the field of neurobiology at Cornell University Medical College. She coauthored several research articles on learning and memory and published in peer-reviewed publications. Ms. Cronin earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Smith College.
