In Mexico, from 2000 to 2024, more than 163 journalists have died, with Veracruz being the most violent state to be a journalist in the country. The story of Moisés Sánchez, the director of the newspaper La Unión, takes place in this state: Veracruz.
Mexico is a country where violence and the disappearance of journalists has become normalized, to the point where it’s perceived as something that happens all the time.
Since Lopéz Obrador became president of Mexico, 37 journalists have been murdered in the country, a figure that has caused alarm, as it is the highest since 2000, the year in which Article 19 began registering these murders.
