For the 295 million people in the world who are visually impaired, clothing care instruction labels are inaccessible, creating a barrier to their independence. Tide Tags are tactile laundry care symbols that can be adhered to clothing to help visually impaired people do their laundry. We started by designing three symbols to help sort between whites, colors, and darks, and then expanded the system to include all of the existing care symbols we see on our clothes. Tide Tags also come with a braille guide to laundry care symbols, equipped with a QR code to an audio guide.
