Adidas champions the phrase “impossible is nothing.” Therefore, tackling the seemingly impossible challenge of climate change is perfectly suited for Adidas. Excessive carbon emissions from athletic brands are hurting the environment. Polyester is a common fabric used by athletic companies and it produces 2-3x the amount of carbon emissions as cotton. So, we're creating athleticwear using new emerging technology that reverses climate damage of other athletic brands. Adidas presents Champions of Change. Athleticwear that absorbs carbon from the air. So instead of putting carbon into the atmosphere, we’re taking it out.
We turned this into the athleticwear clothing line, C2. To get runners actively involved, Adidas will hold the Champions of Change Marathon. The first marathon to be measured not by time, but by amount of carbon captured. Adidas will partner with the top running app, Strava, allowing its millions of runners to track the amount of carbon captured. To further the global effort, Adidas will support athletes in developing countries with high pollution levels by sending them C2 clothing. Adidas will follow their journeys in a Netflix documentary series “Changing the Pace.”
