We’re all familiar with IKEA’s signature designs—but have you ever wondered what the brand's signature sound is?
That question became the inspiration for a project that was anything but simple. Instead of following the instruction manual, we tipped all the creative pieces out on the floor and started from scratch to build a sound that feels as instantly recognisable as the brand itself.
IKEA has been present in Poland for over 30 years where it has designed and manufactured a large part of its products, and earned a special place in people’s hearts. To capture that relationship in sound, we went deep: exploring the brand’s Swedish roots, its Polish connections, even bringing in a linguist to decode IKEA’s voice and identity—essentially, to translate the way IKEA feels and speaks to its audiences. Our goal was to create a sonic identity that’s playful, bold, and designed for the many, while staying true to the brand's promise of “Your better home.”
The breakthrough came when we decided to make IKEA’s products, the instruments. We recorded over 200 unique sounds from IKEA items. A Polish producer then transformed these raw samples into a sonic ecosystem: a sonic logo, audio stickers, radio tracks, and a full product-sample library that lets IKEA’s own creations tell their story.
The result is a sound that is unmistakably IKEA—smart, bold yet minimal, and alive with playful curiosity—a brand you can truly recognise with your eyes closed.
