Music Supervision
The music in The Girlfriend was built around the idea of dual identity and subjective perspective. From the start, we created two musical worlds—one for each woman—that reflected their emotional states and shifting power throughout the story.
The score was written in two voices, and every song choice was made to align with one perspective or the other. As the characters' stories began to blur, so did their musical themes.
This gave the show a clear, evolving sound that supported the tension and psychological tone. Music supervisors usually avoid being too “on the nose”, but with this show, it became clear that this approach really worked, so we leant into it hard. With that in mind, the songs weren’t just background, they were a guide through the emotional landscape of the series.
