This evocative piece, featured in the Handmaid’s Tale teaser, originated from Valkyrie—an album created under Parasol Music, a Los Angeles–based artist-driven label, publisher, and creative agency specializing in music for film, TV, trailers, and brands. Featuring a rare 200-year-old Norwegian Hardanger fiddle—the only one of its kind in America—the track was composed by platinum-selling producer and artist Martin Wave, German producer and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Thoneick, and violinist-composer Helena Maria Falk. An exploration of their Nordic and European roots, Valkyrie takes listeners on a sonic journey through the lyrical, melancholic, and cautiously optimistic soundscape of the region. With meticulous craftsmanship, live string performances, and expressive improvisations, the track tells a story both haunting and hopeful. The composition was further customized upon request by Hulu and the creative agency to align with the narrative tone and emotional intensity of the teaser.
