61 Seconds to Five Minutes
Orchestrating the environment, mood, sound and performance, to move audiences to feel what people in Lebanon have felt for years, all within seconds, was essential to making the film impactful.
In a haunting and despair-ridden soundscape, titled "Descent", the father's cries escalate the hopelessness of the situation.
The soundtrack and sound design were critical to feed and exacerbate the visual tension..
The base soundscape was created to take us into a hospital’s environment.
A poignant piano tune provides an emotional soul across the track.
Underlying bass synth brings an ominous undertone throughout.
Integrating a melancholic cello heightens the loneliness and despair.
A siren constructed for this soundscape, creates a foreboding of threat and panic.
Nerve-pinching tunes, designed to integrate excruciatingly with the shrieks of the father, puncture the environment with more pain.
And sounds of mayhem add to as well as amplify the progressively overwhelming disarray of life.
The father’s cries for help escalate across the entire one-shot take, as the situation descends.
With specially composed end pads, the track ends on a pensive note, acknowledging the loss.
