Background:
In Germany, over 18,000 children were reported missing in 2024, yet no nationwide alert system just the amber alert exists due to strict data protection laws, making Germany the only blind spot in Europe. As time is of the essence we closed this gap through innovative media.
Idea:
Screen2Save bridges the gap with an innovative, media-first approach: an automated geo-targeted alert system displaying real-time, police-confirmed missing child reports on Free2Move car screens, retail media in supermarkets, and social platforms. Exactly where the child was last seen.
Execution:
To maximize reach among German residents, mass media channels were chosen to promote the alert system. Starting in January, the campaign leveraged digital screens of the Free2Move fleet, owned social media and influencers. By March 2025, the campaign expanded to DOOH, CTV streaming, TVCs, online banners, retail media, and print ads to reach all of Germany. Numerous partnerships enabled this initiative without a traditional media budget, engaging a broad, nationwide audience, including individuals not typically involved in such efforts.
Result:
Screen2Save - The first media cooperation to find missing children.
Turning a blindspot into a spotlight. Transforming overlooked media into life-saving alert channels, fostering awareness, behavior change, and scalable public good.
The first child, Kimberly was found just 4 hours after the ad went live. In the meantime, thanks to ScreenSave, even more children have been safely reunited: Amelia , Hassan, Estera and her baby, Aaliyah, Sophie, Emilia, Dusica tbc.
Screen2Save is more than a campaign. It's a public safety innovation -powered by smart media and driven by purpose.
