Couch to Action is a creative inversion of Uber’s biggest competitive pressure, stay-at-home streaming, into its most effective acquisition engine. The work starts from a cultural truth: Gen Z increasingly chooses the couch over going out, and the screen has become the dominant arena for social energy. Rather than fight for attention, we chose to synchronize with it. The strategic insight was simple and powerful: “Let’s go” is a universal on‑screen action cue that can be repurposed as a real‑world call to move.
We built a detection engine that continuously scans dialogue across major films and series, detects every instance of “Let’s go,” and logs it with precise timecodes, creating an exclusive database of 4500+ momentum moments. This enabled a frictionless second‑screen experience: when viewers hear the cue on any platform, they message the title to Uber’s WhatsApp bot, complete a quick verification tied to the timecode, and instantly receive a free ride or discount. By meeting people in the channel they already use while watching, we reduced steps and turned a passive viewing beat into an immediate trip.
Results validate the approach: over 2 million chatbot interactions, 100% of coupons claimed within eight hours, and a 63% shift in ride frequency. Couch to Action turns peak reclusion into real‑world mobility and reframes Uber not as a casualty of couch culture but as a catalyst that converts attention into movement, an extensible system that can scale by localizing equivalent cues beyond “Let’s go” across languages and contexts.
