Breastmilk Money is a savings account inside Herconomy that rewards Nigerian mothers for exclusive breastfeeding with real money. The account uses baby age, feeding frequency, WHO intake averages, and live formula prices to calculate each mother’s exact formula savings. Mothers then set aside that same amount into their Breastmilk Money sub account, where it grows at 14.3 percent interest. Supported by doctors and lactation specialists, creators, PR, social, and out of home across Lagos, the idea helped families save money, challenged stigma and taboos, and lifted exclusive breastfeeding.
