The film captures the moment a problem becomes an invitation. It acknowledges a world full of challenges, but reframes Claude AI not as another threat, rather as a tool for progress—because while problems are everywhere, there has never been a better time to have one. From the outset, “Keep Thinking” was defined by an impossible turnaround: eight days of prep, a twelve-day shoot, and final delivery within three weeks of approval. From day one, the entire production moved at full sprint. Two units were mobilised simultaneously, deploying the full crew to Cape Town and condensing a twelve-day shoot into six, with both units operating in unprecedented synchronicity and zero margin for error. In just three days, locations were scouted across Cape Town and deep into the Cederberg Desert while more than 90 roles were cast for scenes that were still being written. To survive the workload, the creative team split into parallel factions. Casting, scouting, writing, and planning ran concurrently, with teams reconvening nightly to cross-reference locations, cast, and evolving ideas—rewriting and re-engineering the film in real time. The intention was to find real people—real thinkers—not actors. Casting focused on niche communities, obsessions, and expertise. Our synth player with one of the world’s largest analogue synth boards was cast alongside his instrument. Rocket hobbyists, piano tuners, bike engineers, composers, and kelp researchers were flown in from around the world, with scenes built around their real lives under extreme time pressure. To reinforce a human-first, anti–AI-generated tone, the film was shot entirely on film: 16mm, 35mm, and rare Ektachrome reversal stock sourced via eBay. With the nearest lab in mainland Europe, every roll carried real risk. Five film cameras ran in parallel across both units, alongside digital and underwater crews working in freezing, violent seas. The most unforgiving moment came when a grand piano was dropped 30 feet from a crane. One take. Four film cameras and a GoPro rolled. If anything failed - camera, timing, physics - the shot was lost. We executed perfectly —and the film found its heart.
