Molson’s “See My Name” campaign addressed a flaw in women’s hockey jerseys: players’ names were often hidden by their long hair due to a design based on men’s standards.
Rather than simply sponsoring the league, Molson bought the space above the number, traditionally used for names, and gave up its own logo visibility. This allowed players’ names to be moved below the number, making them visible during play.
The idea extended beyond jerseys to an outdoor campaign in Toronto and Montreal, where Molson’s logo was also covered so women players’ names could finally shine.
Launched on International Women’s Day, the campaign sparked a broader conversation about gender equality in sport. It drew widespread media attention, including support from Billie Jean King, and helped reposition Molson as inclusive, progressive, and committed to supporting women athletes.
