Behavior Driven Messaging
Multiplayer gaming is built on teamwork, but for many gamers on the autism spectrum, the biggest barrier is not the game. It is the voice chat.
Fast, loud, and packed with coded slang, multiplayer communication can quickly become overwhelming. Instead of speaking up, many autistic gamers simply withdraw and end up playing solo, not because they lack skill, but because the language was never designed with them in mind.
To change that, stc created The Social Decoder: a plug-and-play device that uses AI to interpret live voice chat and instantly rephrase it into autism-friendly language. It keeps the teammate’s original voice, but makes the message calmer, clearer, and easier to process. So “Cover my six” becomes “Watch behind me,” and “Cover my back!” becomes “Watch for any danger behind me.”
Built with guidance from the Saudi Autism Center of Excellence, we developed a specialized gaming lexicon designed to reduce sensory overload and remove communication barriers without changing gameplay, teammates, or the gamer themselves.
The Social Decoder is not just a new gaming tool. It is an audio communication technology used for belonging, helping more players join in, stay in, and experience multiplayer the way it was always meant to be: together.
