Special Event/Activation
Throughout time, soccer has evolved in technology, broadcasting and fan experience. Yet racist behavior in the stands remains unchanged. For the International Day Against Racism, ESPN turned live broadcasts of major league matches into a one-day special activation, rolling back the transmission by removing every modern feature and recreating the feel of a decades-old broadcast. By intentionally disrupting the modern viewing experience, we transformed a global sporting moment into a cultural statement: while the way we watch soccer has progressed, the way we live it still needs to.
